Recently an entire thread in the Warrior forum was removed that contained numerous complaints about Mark Dulisse and his poor products and even worse customer service. One of the posts was from myself that is reprinted here: http://turtleknife.com/Video/dominatingvideoscom-review.html

Poker Software Battle Heats Up

This has already affected the rating of many Full Tilt Poker players. I notice they did not put my recent Midnight Madness final table appearance in my stats, even though it does show at OfficialPokerRankings.

I am not entirely sure what is the difference between the two sites as to why one is allowed to extract the data, and another is not.

Midnight Madness Poker Tournament.

I play this tournament often and cash often too, but have only final tables it like 3 or 4 times. If not for the last hand bad beat, I think I take the whole thing down.

So JCPenny is denying any knowledge of what was going on because their firm was supposedly responsible for the Black Hat SEO tactics. To me that either makes you Dumb for knowing about it and letting it happen, or even Dumber for denying knowing about it, while your search results were obviously skyrocketing during the Holidays.

You would think someone at JCPenny would say, hey, why the heck are we selling out of carpets nationwide?

I think I would rather be accused of a being a Black-hatter and then acknowledging the error, rather than being part of a management team that has no idea what is going on with their sales numbers and why.

How on earth does a reporter make such a headline, and then clarifies in the article that the iPhone4 was not included in the figures? Yeah it was only the biggest smartphone product launch in the history of the planet, and whoops we forgot to add it to the final numbers, that's why the Android has outsold the iPhone (3 version).

Crafty move I suppose but if the NHL let this go by without arguing it, then certainly you would expect it to be a precedent for future contracts, thus, essentially making the the Salary Cap a non-issue for teams wanting to spend more.

I admit i started out a huge loosing player, but I did hit 3rd place in the $5 rebuy for almost two thousand. Your videos have helped me improve that much. I purchased this course a few months back to see if I could learn any video techniques. I found it rather disappointing, even though I actually enjoyed participating in the forum created alongside this course. The content was actually rather slow moving, but I could see it being a course for true beginners getting familiar with Camtasia.

If you actually watch this sales video, there are numerous flaws with it IMHO, and Kevin Riley, the creator seems to be yelling out a script here. In spite of some of these clear warning signs as to the quality of the content, I still bought the course because it was so darned cheap. I figure there has to be something worthwhile in the course.

The course consisted of creating many video projects, but of the 500 or so participants, only a few stuck around past the second video project. In fact, in the forum feedback area for videos created by participants beyond the second project remain completely EMPTY.

I really got too bored with the pace of this content, and cannot speak for the other 500 or so buyers, but obviously something is not working with the course and/or its instructor.

Which brings me to the point of this SideWiki. Kevin Riley is compiling this content into yet another product, but when he received such uninspired response to his request for testimonials, he followed it up with this "request" which IMHO was entirely unprofessional and ignored the realities of his course -which is there was very little proven success with what he was teaching and how he was teaching it.

How alarming I thought to myself for someone to risk scuttling their reputation with such arm-twisting tactics to get testimonials for a product that is PROVEN to be unsuccessful by it's own participants in the Video Production Workshop Lab.

WestHost NEWS: Its all Bad.

Is it just me or does WESTHOST not even realize the damage they are causing small businesses that have entrusted them to keep their business accessible. Here they seem to think I am going to appreciate, rather then expect FREE temporary hosting while they get their noodles untangled.

Just to be clear WESTHOST, one week of downtime means LOSS of income, LOSS of back-links, LOSS of subscribers, LOSS of Google indexing, and LOSS of sales to name just a few. Westhost thinks a couple months of hosting reimbursed is going to fix it.

What Westhost has no clue about is that hosting is about trust and reliability. We have all worked with doofuses that can pull a wrong (fire suppression switch) switch, but since they are in the hosting business, they MUST be prepared for such uncommon or bizarre situations.

That is YOUR job WESTHOST as a host business. We rely on your dedication to reliability, speed and sufficient back-up systems. That is obviously a failing of your management, not the wanker who thought he was turning on a light bulb.

Now in a time of crisis, they are NOT answering their phones and have robots, even slow robots manning the chat line with scripted responses. Yet they start thier response with things like "WestHost has a history of delivering solid and reliable hosting platforms with top-notch support" and finish their emails with "When you expect more from your web host". It's this utter blasphemy that makes my blood boil.

So stop with the excuses WESTHOST and get our sites back up. When you do that, you can go into damage control while re-engineering your emergency systems and cleaning the management house.

I was in a situation with pocket queens big blind. The guy on my left who was very tight (as noted on my wonderful tournament indicator) pushed all in, and the fellow on my right called. The donkey in me wanted so much to push back, but thanks to you and your common sense approach to the game, and the wonderful tutorials you so generously offer... it was an easy fold. Turns out, that would have been the end of me for that game had I pushed all in. So I said "thank you Marty!"

I receive all sorts of video tutorials from you. I still don't know how many different sites your name is on. I think the one video about taking care of my bankroll really hit home the most for me and came at a very timely moment. I signed on to Titan poker to get TI (which I now own after 900 hands). Reloading was just part of learning the game I thought...That was pre Marty Smith. There are many times now when I think more about placing in the money and the importance of guarding my bankroll as my primary concern when making decisions. After nearly 1000 flops where I have vp$ip, Titan poker is the only site that I am still playing with my original deposit. That's a huge step for me. You have taught me so much about the game. I was lucky enough to catch you on Full Tilt the other night. You were short stacked with 700 chips. I thought what a great opportunity for me to watch how you work with a short stack. There were two fellows to the right of you that had some 6,000 plus and 4,000 plus chips. Anyways to make a short story long, I watched you grow to chip leader with over 13,000 chips at the final table. You managed a second place finish in a very long and volatile fight when it came down to the last four people.

Marty, I could go on and on. I am stunned at how much time you dedicate to helping me play a better game. And when I say "me" I mean all the "me's" out there. I sincerely thank you and eagerly look forward to watching more of you and from you in the future.

Molly Wood attacks the iPad

Yeah she actually says only New York liberals are going to buy this thing, trying to pretend she's as controversial as Ann Coulter. But never mind her, because real business people know what the score is, and the AMAZON team is more than a little concerned about this iPad thing selling quite a bit more.

Now as a Kindle owner I will probably keep both. However, after seeing the video of eBook reader on the iPad, I can instantly recognize it as something I would appreciate more. It really LOOKS like a book. The Kindle reader is more like an etch-a-sketch, and the screen is all the Kindle will have going for it (even though it is only in B&W) once the iPad is released.

Furthermore, you cannot read typical PDF files on the Kindle. I tried downloading some already and was shocked to learn the "Kindle does not handle this type of software". Man, one of the reasons my wife got it for me was to read the slew of PDFs I have on my computer. Not only will the iPad be able to download and read PDFs but it will open up an entirely new market for eBook producers (us) to directly submit and sell via the iBook Store. Think about that, a mere 10 MILLION new units to market YOUR eBook to!

Add that to the (seemingly dated) square button toggle navigation, the real buttons (that wear) next-page navigation, and the convoluted home page and setting navigation you can see why Amazon is in panic mode right now about the iPad.

Keep in mind Apple will be making deals with any kind of book publisher, so there will be no limitations as to what gets sold through the iBook store. If you have shopped Amazon through the Kindle store, you know already that there are nowhere near the amount of books sold there as in the general Amazon website.

Molly Wood complains about it not having a phone or video, as if someone was going to place a tablet on their ear or point it at someone to shoot video. Apple already has products that can do that, duh??

They are not in the business of overlapping themselves, they are in the business of defining new markets, like no other company has done, at least as consistently.

I have quite another take on your Apple iPad opinion:

Leave it to Apple to:

* Create an entire new market segment.
* Make an eBook feel like a REAL book, (unlike my Kindle).
* Make eMail ACTUALLY look fun to go through
* Possibly save MANY newspaper subscription services
* Have 1,000s of programmers eager to create APPs for the iPad
* Design a product that will bring "new" seniors to the internet
* Have iPad displace several digital gadgets in the home
* Have the planet abuzz with one introduction
* Sell 10 MILLION units in year one
* Expand their client base through the iPad

It's interesting to see how many people like Molly Wood are making fun of this product, when at the very least you gotta admit these Cupertino dudes that wear jeans at work, kinda know a thing or two about running a multi billion dollar company > which is about to change the industry, yet again.

This would have been a great tool for online poker, but only in the casual sense. Playing a game while, basically doing something else.

There are however some real limitations to this being a possibility including hardware, internet connections, the iPad OS, and of course the lack of multi-tasking.

This video is great as Seth points out some fascinating businesses that are doing remarkable things in marketing. The fringe of the consumer population is where new companies can grab a foothold and expand business from there.

This is because there are so many options for consumers, who oddly, have less time to choose amongst them. For example, Seth Godin makes a point about there being a magazine for water now with a full 180 pages an issue.

This is true. It's the webmasters who choose the blocking strategy that will lose ground in the coming growth of social marketing.

Consumers will not only have SideWiki as a powerful tool, but many other social APPs that will assist consumers in sharing REAL information about a product or service. A lot of Warriors are still steaming about SideWiki claiming it is immoral, illegal, supports pornographic spammers and is basically the next evil coming.

No you won't find much logic there, as such statements are backed with a despise I have rarely seen online.

But do webmasters have a point about this? When I say webmasters, it must be the huge majority because you just don't hear anyone saying anything good.

Except, you guessed the end user. They will decide how this thing gets used, and how widespread it will be.

Do a twitter search for SideWiki and guess what? The social users, ie > our customers are not dissing SideWiki, they are asking "how to install it", "did you see my SideWiki post", and "I am trying out SideWiki now"

Do not dare ignore the end users in this market, which is turning very "social".

Having been a webmaster for some years now, I started out with what I would now call "rude" looking designs. However, fast forward 15 years and there is simply no excuse for that anymore, especially from experienced marketers like Steve Wagenheim here.

Whenever I see a website that reminds me of the 1970's, I simply cannot give it the time of day, nor consider any kind of a trust exchange.

Seriously, what would compel someone to back back to this blog often as Steve so requests.

The bottom line is, you have a few short seconds to convince a reader that it's worth his time to stay on a website and look further. This example, I am afraid is one of the sites that has a costly bounce rate due to poor quality graphics and photo, outdated text and colors, and a call to action that may only get response due to a perverse curiosity.

That's funny Steve Wagenheim, because this is exactly what I was saying about Google's Sidewiki program. Basically learn to live with the realities and take advantage of new technologies. YOU however chose to berate me in the Warrior Forum for exploring new software, insult my business acumen, accuse me of spamming, and attempt to rile up others to do the same. You were utterly unprofessional, which is why the forum admins deleted all of those threads. None of you could carry a rational argument in a professional manner. You even said you were going to sue Google because of it. How's that going?

There is no way to see opponent's cards online. This video is intentionally misleading the viewer. If you have to mislead the viewer into getting them to buy your product, then your product is clearly worthless.

This just sounds like a paranoid webmaster. Given the very low view count of this video really shows that only a select few really are this scared of Google's new social media tool. The rant and scare that was witnessed in the Warrior forum after SideWki's release just has not been realized.

Is it better to think about stifling new technology or learning how to use to your advantage? Blocking social media is not only a waste of time, but a fundamental marketing flaw.

In Feb09 I purchased MacSpeech for my new iMac and did so on the numerous positive comments from Mac users. If you search these forums however you will uncover the real truth of the lack of service and compatibility MacSpeech has with OSX 10, and now Snow Leopard. I have not, for a single useful moment been able to use this software since then, and am now faced with havng to upgrade in order to get it to work - of course at my cost.

The final response I got from MacSpeech in the spring suggested I try to sell the software myself, since they would not return my money, and now this. Simply, this is a company that does not understand customer service or quality assurance.

Randy I completely agree with this as I have seen the volumes of crap articles on ezinearticles claiming to be valuable poker content. Most of these writers are just hired by 3rd parties and must then do some quick research or rewriting to spin out some rather useless content.

The problem with this of course is that even though most webmaster/business people will happily agree your statement, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the end-user experience. They will be the ones who decide where such tools live or die.

They also decide what is seen on their browser. If you thought it was tough to swallow Googles tools, think about how the end user will feel in you trying to stop them from choosing their browser and it`s functions.

It is NOT your internet real estate, it is the end-users' browser choice.

There is a suicidal slant to your thinking, in that you like many others in the IM community are choosing to fight what is inevitable, when you really should be re-training yourself in how to take advantage of inevitable changes in the business world.

What a concept! The world`s most dominant internet machine is getting back to basics and running print ads to promote it's new social media browser plug-in SideWiki.

The ad is quite simple, almost 1970's Volkswagen-like, but does the trick. With a couple arrows the graphic points to a website and also shows where your comments can be seen if you have something thoughtfull to add to any web page you come across.

The black-and-white print advertisement runs somewhat bigger than a classified placement and is targeting potential social media users to get involved by adding stimulating thoughts.

You are forgetting about the fact that Google has already opened up the API for SideWiki to allow 3rd party programs to participate outside of the Google tool bar. Kutano is the first one to take advantage of this which in effect mixes Kutano, Twitter and SideWiki together in sharing a distribution of comments.

Here is a good strategy to use for testimonials you may be receiving like the one below.Set up a blogger page with links and related content to your main sales page or website. Whenever somebody sends you a testimonial just copy it to a notepad, go to the site or product they were talking about and paste it as a SideWiki under your name, but use quotes and the writer's information. Yes, you will posting your own SideWiki on your own site, but a CUSTOMER wrote it.

Before you publish, click on the blogger blog you want it published to, and then go file away the original emailed testimonial. Now you have fresh new content on your blogger blog, you have a new complimentary SideWiki, and you have immediate (or at least very fast) indexing by Google for both entries.

Add as many testimonials as you want, so that you really lay claim to your SideWiki real estate for your own website, i a very positive way.

I have been in many discussions with other webmasters about this very "state of mind". Most in the webmaster community are actually preparing themselves to be "walled in" as you put it, rather than looking at what is coming their way - whether they like it or not. They have no idea that SideWiki is only the beginning of what they will find as "uncomfortable" changes to their internet businesses.

Some will even foolishly argue SideWiki is not social media in the same way as Facebook or Twitter, but again have no idea or plan to engage the end user. It's entirely fascinating actually, to see internet-age business people acting like they were back in the 1970's and mocking at people who are actually thinking of buying a small, fuel efficient car.

In my response here to a forum member I point out that even while actively searching for SPAM in SideWiki, I just have't found it. I even asked (challenged) other forum members to send me the examples so that I could monitor the deletion/abuse situation. Amongst all those more-than-just-angry forum members, nobody came up with a single example.

Well I suppose that may not be the whole story, but even for myself in keeping an open mind about this thing, I fully expected to see SPAM-like messages on SideWiki. I too, am worried about how Google will handle that aspect.

As it is so far however, the only truly distasteful SideWiki entries (2 or 3) I have seen have been posted by webmasters (in the style of your response) on their own (or friend's) sites for the purpose of testing and setting an example of what could happen. (Presumably because of the lack of real-life examples.)

Nothing wrong with preparing for the worst I suppose, and it may very well still get ugly, but you would think SPAMMERS would already be on this thing, and yet - they clearly are not. So enticing someone to join a cause on this basis alone, seems rather ill conceived and wasteful in nature.

If this petition was refined to the point of it's goal being SideWiki offer webmasters the CHOICE to opt-out I would actually be for it, (even though I feel that too would be a mistake,) it is much more fair than having the website owner seek and install blocking programs with every new SideWiki-like service. (Yes, more are coming!)

Refine this thing, and you may get some more support.

Anywho, if you thought SideWiki was going away too soon, Kutano is now including SideWiki comments within it's browser add-on as well.

What does this mean?

1- A wider reach of any SideWiki comments

2- Integration with existing Twitter accounts and comments

3- Direct link from twitter to ALL SideWiki and Kutano comments made about your website

Kutano has a 3rd party browser add-on much like SideWiki, although I feel it is more feature rich. It too allows users to post comments on any webpage for others to see. Users will see SideWiki comments now as well, with the addition of (originally posted with SideWiki) at the end of the comment.

Right now, even though the Warrior Forum blocked seeing SideWiki comments, they are currently accessible via Kutano, as posted originally.

Well with all the hyper-scare chatter of impending internet doom because of Google's new SideWiki, you could well imagine this would be coming in a hurry - Software designers creating blockers to SideWiki comments for webmasters to use.

As a designer, you have to get around the (seemingly moderate) challenge of the Google tool bar and it's users. That apparently was no challenge for this quick-thinking programmer - "While I don't want to disclose exactly how this tool works, I can say it's dead simple to install on any kind of static or dynamic website, Linux and Windows hosted, and it produces no extra load to your site.

What's more, it doesn't block access to your site for those that have the toolbar installed. They can still see and interact with your site, they can even add their own Sidewiki comments..."

This entrepreneur goes on to say: "You must have a website (any kind will do), and you must be willing to install this tool on your site following my instructions. All you have to do to install it is upload a file I will supply and change a single line of code in each of your site pages.

It does work with static HTML pages, with PHP pages, with blogs and pretty much anything. Including ASP."

Now obviously this is great for those webmasters who are on a burning fury right now about this SideWiki thing. At the very least, the community will likely have some effect on this product as the outrage is simply too large to negotiate right now.

But what if it is here to stay as is? There is also the notion that the users of SideWiki will be users, if not for anything else than the slick, non-obtrusive design of the tool bar. Those users will be reading SideWiki comments on (most) new websites they visit. How are they going to feel when your page has blocked them from what they feel is valuable information? Well, how do you feel about a business that will go out of their way to block information about themselves? Suspicious, right?

How to get your Webmaster message on the TOP of SideWiki Comments.

If you are a webmaster at all concerned about the comments on SideWiki about your websites, then my suggestion is to have a corporate webmaster message on your sites now. These messages stay at the top of your index page in the user's SideWiki browser, no matter what gets put on there after. Start by placing it on your index page, then if comments grow on one of your content pages, you can comment yourself as well.

I think for most of our sites it may take a lot longer that anyone thinks to see some comments on our pages, but still, its probably best to be first.

To get a webmaster message associated to your own website that SideWiki users will see you need to:

1- Download the Google Tool Bar with SideWiki and use either Firefox or IE. (I read this may be a permanent part of a new Chrome release soon.)

2- Sign up for webmaster tools in Google using your GMail account. Then go to "Add website". Google will produce a meta snippet for you.

3- Sync your website by placing the meta snippet on your index page html code, just under the header. If you use WP, Joomla! or other, you need to log in and retrieve the template html files to add this code. It will NOT change anything about your website.

4- Then press VERIFY.

5- You can then modify your SideWiki profile and add ALL of your verified websites with anchor text (Bonus PR back links!!!).

6- You can then refresh your webpage in your browser, open SideWiki and you will be invited to add a comment as "Webmaster".

I did this to a few of my sites yesterday and added a short welcome message, and I figure it will be a good place to put some "testimonial quotes"

Third Voice attempted to be what SideWiki is trying to be today. The underlying demise of that venture was the uprising of web hosts and the lack of advertising. Third Voice was what you could call a Social Media 2.0 service, but likely also, ahead of it`s time.

What happened to Third Voice

But SideWiki has a couple distinct advantages besides the passage of a decade. Social media is driving internet technology right now, at a furious pace. In fact Twitter AND Facebook are working on similar applications as we speak. And by Social media, I mean the end users as a whole. SideWiki is aimed at the end-user's choice of how they want to view the web. This is certainly a dramatic extension of a typical browser tool-bar.

SideWiki is all about Google. hey if Google wanted to sell hotcakes with maple syrup online, I would be willing to bet they can figure out a way to do it. The logistics, software, and delivery of this service is rather impressive after just my first day of using it.

This is also about Google search, because indexing may potentially be more targeted and efficient if humans are there first pointing out and discussing such topics that may have otherwise been unnoticed by typical crawling. This is conjecture on my part, as I really do not know if Google is using SideWiki as part of their search algorithm. It just makes sense to me that they would.

Here is the biggest thing that may make this fly, this time around. In spite of webmaster uprising about feeling their online real estate is being abused, the real thinkers out there have long since embraced Social Media. Yes, this Social media is closer to the source than ever before, but you cannot fight the user, the buyer of your products if that is how they choose to view content.

The commercial enterprises who have already adopted or are strategizing to take advantage of this social media application will likely be big winners with SideWiki while many "small" players with "small" thinking will be largely occupied dissing Google's applications in forums.

Whether you like SideWiki or not, you need to install it.

If you are a webmaster you may very well among the many who have voiced strong opposition to this user driven tool. The reality right now is that anyone with a GMail account can start posting comments for other SideWiki users to see in their tool bar, relating to YOUR web pages.

Here is the bottom line. You need to get here first with your own corporate/webmaster message. That's what I am doing this week for all my sites.

Will Google's New SideWiki help your website's search performance?

There is a lot of buzz today about Google's new SideWiki tool bar and to my shock and awe, webmasters are decidedly furious about it. SideWiki, basically allows those who download the tool to potentially improve their web experience by getting other reader's opinions about any particular web page.

It is all user driven in a social media way, because previous visitors to a site can leave a comment concerning the content of the given page. These comments can be seen by expanding a "Side" window in their browser and then reading what others think. Most early thoughts from fellow webmasters about this product are irrationally leaning to feeling of invasion on their intellectual property. They are failing to look at the potential of this and have not yet grasped the power of embracing social media, whatsoever.

In spite of their unproductive fear, if you want to try this service you will need a Google gmail account to participate in SideWiki and your comments are also posted on your profile, which in essence will keep SPAM to a minimum as the community of users will identify such losers rather quickly and have them and their comments deleted.

Here is the thing though, if your website starts getting a lot of comments via anything social media, it gets traffic. That also usually results in link reference, and in turn, search engine performance.

Now, because SideWiki as ALL about Google integration, the real question is "How can SideWiki NOT help your search rankings." I think think it's rather clear SideWiki can help and I will be exploring those strategies in the coming months as this tool gets widely adopted.

So as far as marketing on SideWiki goes, I can see one glaring opportunity for not only getting traffic to your website but also keeping your blog updated.

First, you need to create a gmail account and profile. Your profile contains keyword linked, website links so by all means take advantage of this.

Second, RSS your profile comments to a blog you have as well. You will be commenting (hopefully) on web pages related to your content, and your readers can see updated information about what your opinions are on websites they may find of interest as well.

SideWiki Launches

Today, I have been exploring this seemingly powerful toolbar addition created by none other than Google. Basically it let's you leave comments on any web page in a side bar that users have the option of downloading, contributing to, and reading in the form of comments relating to the content of that very web page.

Essentially it can effect the gravity of any web page by making it relevant in a social media aspect. Think of one of your web pages have hundreds of comments posted to it, all with no work on your part. All of a sudden it becomes a social spotlight because of it's content!

The majority of comments around the forums and blogoshpere on this launch day though are more closely compared to some kind of tragic home invasion, where webmasters keep mentioning things like "Google has no right to add something to MY web page" or "Hey we're going to put up a huge billboard beside your house and let anyone who wants to write on it" or "What is the benefit of anyone and everyone being able to comment whatever they want on any website? How exactly will that help the internet?" or "And it will be misused by the bad guys. Just look at what has happened to some other "reporting" services. I won't call them by name here but we all know who they are" and finally readers "I dont think ANYONE should be able to comment on my site effectively in the context of my site if viewed through google chrome or whatever- without me having any control over that"

Yes, those quotes are from webmasters, who may not realize it, but they are in fact publishers, open to all kinds of criticism and perhaps accolades. In my view, notwithstanding the fact that the service may (slight chance) yet still fail, this community comment power will help bring the deserving content to the top, and will punish automated blogs, article theft sites, and plain old useless trash that somehow manages to get indexed.

All this of course remains to be seen. As a webmaster though, it's best to explore such a service instead of beating it up before you have even downloaded the tool bar.
